In a major step towards enhancing
access to safe drinking water while advancing renewable energy-based public
infrastructure, NTPC Limited–Bongaigaon has signed a Memorandum of Agreement
(MoA) with Cosmic Foundation, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, under its strategic
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Assam.
The MoA was signed in the presence of
Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region-II & Southern
Region), NTPC Limited; Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; and
Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon. The agreement was signed by Amit
Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR), on behalf of NTPC Bongaigaon, while Awanish Tripathi,
President, Cosmic Foundation, signed on behalf of the Foundation.
As part of the agreement, 10 Solar
Water Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems will be installed and commissioned at
selected public locations across the Guwahati Parliamentary Constituency, with
a total project outlay of ₹43 lakh.
Each unit will be equipped with a 1200 Wp MNRE-approved solar module that is
IP66, ROHS and CE compliant, and ISO 14001:2015 certified, along with a
500-litre storage capacity. The systems are designed to ensure reliable access
to safe drinking
water through clean, sustainable energy solutions across multiple locations in
Guwahati.
Speaking on the occasion, Arindam
Sinha reaffirmed NTPC’s strong commitment to community welfare and sustainable
development, noting that access to safe drinking water remains a critical
public health priority and an essential component of responsible corporate
citizenship. Awanish Tripathi expressed gratitude for the collaboration and
assured timely implementation of the project, along with high-quality installation
and long-term maintenance of the systems.
The initiative underscores NTPC
Bongaigaon’s sustained efforts to align its CSR interventions with Sustainable
Development Goal (SDG)-6 – Clean Water and Sanitation by integrating renewable
energy with vital social infrastructure. The project is expected to generate
long-term social benefits by improving public health standards and promoting
environmentally sustainable infrastructure across the Guwahati Parliamentary
Constituency.
The MoA signing ceremony was also
attended by Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, DGM (Corporate Communication), and Smriti
Das, Executive (CSR), NTPC Bongaigaon.
