In a major push to accelerate industrialisation and strengthen its investment ecosystem, Odisha has approved 63 project proposals, including 55 land allotment cases and eight projects related to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), signalling the state government's renewed focus on industrial infrastructure, enterprise development and employment generation.

The approvals were accorded at a meeting of the Land Allotment Committee chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, and IDCO Chairperson Usha Padhee on Thursday.

The decisions are expected to facilitate the establishment of new industrial units, expansion of existing enterprises and faster implementation of investment proposals, while creating fresh avenues for economic growth and job opportunities across the state.

In a move to make the industrial land allotment mechanism more efficient and investor-friendly, the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has introduced a series of administrative reforms under Padhee's leadership. The Land Allotment Committee now meets every month to ensure regular consideration of proposals and expedite decisions, while a dedicated weekly grievance redressal mechanism has been instituted to address concerns raised by investors and entrepreneurs.

The twin initiatives are aimed at eliminating procedural bottlenecks, reducing delays and strengthening transparency and accountability in the land allotment process. The measures are also expected to improve ease of doing business and help investors translate their proposals into tangible industrial projects within stipulated timelines.

The approval of eight MSME-related proposals assumes particular significance as the state seeks to strengthen the role of small and medium enterprises in driving economic growth, fostering innovation and generating employment. Facilitating access to industrial land and supporting infrastructure is expected to provide a major impetus to entrepreneurs looking to establish or expand their business operations in Odisha.

The Land Allotment Committee serves as a key institutional mechanism in Odisha's industrial development framework, examining and approving land-related proposals to facilitate investment and enterprise growth.

With monthly committee meetings and weekly investor grievance hearings becoming integral to the process, IDCO is seeking to reinforce a transparent, responsive and time-bound industrial governance system.
