In a significant step towards enhancing pensioner convenience and promoting digital governance, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has introduced the JeevanPramaan digital life certificate facility for the first time for pensioners of the WESCO Employees’ Pension Fund Trust. The initiative marks an important milestone in the modernisation of pension-related services, enabling retired employees and family pensioners to submit their annual life certificates digitally through Aadhaar-based authentication, thereby eliminating the need for routine physical submission and making the process more convenient, accessible and hassle-free.

As part of this initiative, the WESCO Employees’ Pension Fund Trust has been successfully registered on the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) JeevanPramaan portal. The registration will enable retired employees and family pensioners to generate and submit their Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) every November without having to physically appear before their respective Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), as required under the conventional system.

Pensioners can avail themselves of this facility through nearby Common Service Centres (CSCs) or independently generate their digital life certificates using the JeevanPramaan and AadhaarFaceRD applications on Android smartphones. To access the service, pensioners must have a valid Aadhaar number linked to an active mobile number and select “WESCO EMPLOYEES PENSION FUND TRUST” as their Pension Disbursing Agency while generating the certificate.

To facilitate the seamless adoption of the new digital system, TPWODL’s unit DDOs will extend necessary assistance to pensioners in completing the portal registration process and generating their digital life certificates. The company has also ensured that the transition to the digital platform does not cause any inconvenience to pensioners who may not have access to smartphones or are unable to use the online facility. Such pensioners can continue to submit their physical life certificates by appearing before their respective DDOs during November, in accordance with the existing practice.

By introducing the JeevanPramaan facility while retaining the conventional physical submission mechanism, TPWODL has adopted an inclusive and pensioner-centric approach to the digital transformation of pension services. The initiative is aimed at reducing procedural difficulties, saving time and effort for pensioners, and making the annual life certificate submission process more efficient and accessible. At the same time, the provision of local assistance and an alternative physical submission facility reflects the company's commitment to ensuring that every pensioner benefits from the initiative, irrespective of their familiarity with digital technology.
