The host state continued its impressive run at the 24th National Para Athletics Championships 2026 as Odisha athletes delivered a series of remarkable performances on Day 2 at Kalinga Stadium, adding four more medals to their growing tally and reinforcing their dominance on the national stage.

Leading the charge was Jayprakash Barik, who produced a stellar effort in the Men’s Long Jump T36 event to clinch the gold medal with a leap of 4.83 metres, drawing loud cheers from the home crowd. His performance stood out as one of the highlights of the day, underlining Odisha’s strength in field events.

In the track events, Jadunath Majhi displayed grit and endurance in the Men’s 400m T11 race, securing a silver medal with a timing of 57.70 seconds. Matching his feat, Jayanti Behera continued her consistent form by winning silver in the Women’s 400m T47 event, clocking 1:04.35 and further boosting Odisha’s medal count.

The Men’s Long Jump T13 event saw a strong showing from Odisha as Managat Hembrom claimed a silver medal with an impressive jump of 6.33 metres. Adding to the depth of talent, Pipun Kumar Sahoo and Pankaj Bhue finished fifth and eighth respectively, showcasing the state’s growing bench strength in para athletics.

With one gold and three silver medals on Day 2, Odisha’s tally continued to swell following an equally strong opening day, where athletes had already secured five medals, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze. The consistent performances reflect the state’s rising prominence in para sports and its commitment to nurturing sporting excellence at all levels.
