Odisha Yatri, the state’s technology-enabled mobility platform, will showcase its expanding mobility ecosystem and citizen-centric digital innovations at the 19th Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar under the theme “Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age.”

Odisha is the first state in eastern India to host the Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo, the annual flagship event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), which brings together policymakers, urban transport professionals, technology and service providers, practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge and explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility.

A key highlight of Odisha Yatri’s participation will be its integrated Safety Module, which brings mobility and citizen safety services onto a single state-owned digital platform. With integration with Odisha Police and the national emergency response system, 112, the initiative marks a significant step towards technology-enabled citizen safety.

Available on both iOS and Android, the Safety Module offers 11 integrated safety features, including Shake to Alert, an alarm facility, location sharing and emergency contacts. Its One-Tap SOS facility connects users directly to the national emergency helpline 112. The module has so far been rolled out to around 1.86 lakh users.

Odisha Yatri has also registered substantial growth in its core mobility services, completing 10 lakh trips with 6.34 lakh registered users and 18,600 enabled drivers across five cities. The platform has generated Rs 15.5 crore in earnings for drivers under its 100 per cent pass-through model, under which no commission is retained from driver earnings.

The platform recorded its highest monthly performance in January 2026, when it generated 60,000 trips from 3.28 lakh ride searches, reflecting increasing adoption of technology-enabled mobility services.

Moving beyond conventional ride-hailing, Odisha Yatri is also developing a broader mobility ecosystem. The platform currently facilitates Ama Bus services across four cities and boating services at Satapada in partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association, bringing multiple mobility options onto a connected digital platform.

The integration of mobility and safety services is aimed at making technology-driven public services more accessible and responsive. Through emergency alerts, location sharing and SOS assistance, Odisha Yatri is expanding its role from facilitating daily travel to providing digital support to citizens during emergencies.

Hosting UMI 2026 will provide Odisha an opportunity to present its emerging mobility solutions before national and international stakeholders and demonstrate how digital technology, innovation and citizen-centric services can contribute to safer, more accessible, inclusive and liveable cities.

The evolution of Odisha Yatri reflects the state’s broader approach towards leveraging technology to improve everyday citizen experiences and strengthen citizen-centric governance. From enabling seamless mobility to integrating emergency safety services, the platform is emerging as a digital ecosystem built around the evolving needs of citizens.

The initiative also aligns with the broader aspirations of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat, with technology and innovation serving as key enablers of inclusive, sustainable and people-centric urban development.
