Reinforcing its commitment to health, wellness and community
engagement, Paradip Port Authority (PPA) celebrated the 12th International Day
of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm and widespread participation. Observed
under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the event brought together more than
500 participants, including PPA officials and employees, CISF personnel, port
users, students and members of Paradip Saksharata Samiti (PSS), in a vibrant
display of collective commitment to physical, mental and social well-being.
The celebration witnessed the participation of Paradip Port
Authority Chairman P. L. Haranadh, Deputy Chairman T. Venu Gopal, along with
Heads of Departments and senior officers, who joined the mass yoga session and
performed various yoga asanas. The session was conducted under the expert
guidance of renowned Yoga Guru Tapas Ranjan Pati.
Officials and employees of PPA, CISF personnel, port users,
students and women members of Paradip Saksharata Samiti actively participated
in the programme, reflecting the spirit of inclusiveness, harmony and community
well-being that forms the essence of yoga.
Adding significance to the occasion, participants virtually
watched the live telecast of the national celebrations of the 12th
International Day of Yoga held at Red Road, Kolkata, led by Prime Minister Narendra
Modi.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended
greetings to people across India and the world and highlighted that Yoga has
evolved into one of the largest collective celebrations globally, bringing
together people across cultures and nations. He remarked that, "Yoga has
the unique power to connect people, societies and nations."
Emphasising the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the Prime
Minister observed that Yoga is not confined to physical exercise or any
particular age group, but represents a holistic approach to life. He stated
that "Yoga helps us remain healthy, active and energetic as we age,"
while promoting physical flexibility, mental balance and emotional strength.
Highlighting the importance of balance in daily life, the
Prime Minister noted that Yoga offers a practical pathway towards harmony,
discipline and inner peace. He further underlined that "Yoga is not just
for personal well-being; it is also a pathway to global peace."
Calling upon citizens to adopt Yoga as a lifelong practice,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people not to limit Yoga to a single day and
said, "Let us not limit Yoga to a single day; let us make it a part of
everyday life." He also highlighted the “Yoga 365” initiative, which
encourages citizens to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines throughout
the year.
Coinciding with the International Day of Yoga celebrations,
Paradip Saksharata Samiti (PSS), the social arm of Paradip Port Authority,
organised a special yoga programme and a tree plantation drive at the Officers’
Club, Paradip, with active participation from local school students. The
initiative promoted environmental awareness while encouraging the younger
generation to embrace healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
The successful observance of International Day of Yoga 2026
reaffirmed Paradip Port Authority’s commitment to promoting health, wellness,
inclusiveness and environmental sustainability among its employees and the
wider community, while contributing to the national vision of making Yoga an
integral part of everyday life.
