Emphasising that the Purvodaya vision
of the Government of India is accelerating the development of Odisha and
bringing significant progress to Mayurbhanj district, President of India
Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series
of key developmental projects at Rairangpur. She expressed confidence that
these initiatives would strengthen infrastructure, boost employment
opportunities and enhance socio-economic growth across the region.
The President inaugurated the Maharaja
Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Information Technology Campus and laid the
foundation stones for several crucial projects, including an AYUSH
Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College, an Odisha University of Agriculture and
Technology Campus, an Archery Centre, city beautification and drainage
upgradation projects, an auditorium and cultural centre, a girls’ hostel and a
deaddiction centre.
Addressing the gathering, President
Murmu highlighted the Government of India’s dedicated focus on the economic
empowerment of tribal communities. She noted that the provision of Minimum
Support Price for more than 90 minor forest products under the Pradhan Mantri
Van Dhan Yojana, micro-credit support for tribal self-help groups and
low-interest loans for Scheduled Tribe women through the Tribal Women
Empowerment Scheme reflect the government’s commitment towards inclusive
growth. She also underlined efforts to improve healthcare and education facilities
through initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana aimed at the
welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. The President further pointed
out that electrification has reached tribal-dominated regions while 4G
connectivity has been extended to remote areas, ensuring that development
reaches every corner of the country.
Stressing the importance of tribal
development in nation-building, the President said that the upliftment of the
poorest sections of society can only be achieved through the advancement of
tribal communities. She urged citizens to actively avail themselves of
government welfare schemes and spread awareness among others. “Local
development will drive the development of the state, which in turn will
contribute to national progress. Our vision of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by
2047 can be realised only through the collective efforts of the government and
the people,” President Murmu said.
