TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has strongly condemned the attack on its enforcement
team during a routine enforcement raid conducted in Chandipur village of
Bhadrak district on June 19. The team was carrying out its official
responsibilities to uphold the integrity of the power distribution system and
ensure equitable electricity supply for all consumers in the region.
Following the incident, a police complaint has been lodged
and the matter is currently under investigation. The company has initiated
appropriate legal action and will continue to work closely with the district
administration and law enforcement authorities to prevent the recurrence of
such incidents.
TPNODL stated that such acts of aggression not only endanger
the safety of personnel performing their duties but also adversely affect the
morale of employees who work tirelessly to maintain reliable and quality power
services. The company emphasized that cooperation between consumers and field teams
is essential for building a safer, more efficient, and dependable power
distribution ecosystem across the region.
Across its operational areas, TPNODL’s field teams — including
linemen, engineers, business associate officials, enforcement personnel, and customer
service staff — work under challenging conditions to ensure uninterrupted power
supply. Despite adverse weather, difficult terrain, late working hours,
cyclones, and seasonal storms, they remain committed to restoring electricity,
conducting inspections, serving consumers, and maintaining reliable power for
households, hospitals, commercial establishments, and other essential services.
Condemning the incident, TPNPDL CEO Dushyant Kumar Tyagi said
that the company views it as an impediment to the public interest and urged
consumers to support the team on the ground and refrain from conduct that
hampers their duty.
TPNODL has also appealed to consumers to report incidents of power theft in their localities. Under the Electricity Act, 2003, power theft is a punishable offence that attracts penalties, including fines and imprisonment. The company noted that electricity theft places a financial burden on honest consumers and negatively impacts the quality and reliability of power services across the region and the state.
TPNODL remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and quality power services while ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of its employees and business associates who serve consumers across the region.
