TP Western Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPWODL) has reached more than 2,000 consumers across seven districts of western Odisha through its month-long Seva Setu Abhiyan, facilitating 1,400 rooftop solar applications, commissioning 200 installations and resolving over 300 consumer grievances, as the power distribution utility stepped up efforts to expand access to clean energy and essential services.

Conducted from September 17 to October 17, the campaign organised 44 camps across Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Balangir and Nuapada districts, providing consumers with a single-window platform to access rooftop solar services, understand subsidy benefits and address electricity-related concerns.

TPWODL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, deployed dedicated teams at the camps to assist households with rooftop solar registrations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model. Consumers were also provided information on applicable central and state government subsidies, along with available bank financing options, to help them make informed decisions about adopting solar energy.

A major highlight of the campaign was a mega Seva Setu camp organised at Rengali in Sambalpur district, which witnessed a significant turnout. Dharmendra Pradhan, Member of Parliament from Sambalpur, attended the camp and encouraged residents to explore green energy solutions, including rooftop solar installations.

TPWODL teams provided on-the-spot assistance to consumers for rooftop solar registrations, explained the applicable subsidy benefits and addressed queries related to the application and installation processes. The initiative helped residents gain a better understanding of the procedures, financial incentives and potential benefits associated with switching to solar energy.

The campaign also reinforced the distribution utility's efforts to make clean energy solutions more accessible to households across its operational area by bringing information and assistance directly to communities, particularly those that may find it difficult to visit utility offices for such services.

Across western Odisha, TPWODL has facilitated more than 73,000 rooftop solar installations, comprising 33,587 installations under the ULA model and 40,023 under the capital expenditure (CAPEX) model, reflecting the adoption of solar energy among households in the region.

The financial benefits of rooftop solar adoption were also evident in September 2026, when thousands of consumers across western Odisha recorded zero-unit electricity bills under the ULA and CAPEX models, highlighting the potential of rooftop solar systems to reduce household electricity expenses.

Launched on September 17 and concluded on October 17, the Seva Setu Abhiyan was implemented at the block level across urban and rural areas as a single-window service initiative. The camps were designed to bring essential administrative and utility services closer to citizens, enabling them to resolve operational issues, access relevant information and explore clean energy solutions through direct interaction with the utility's teams.

Through the initiative, TPWODL sought to combine consumer service delivery with awareness and facilitation for renewable energy adoption, while strengthening its engagement with communities across its seven-district operational area. The campaign's outreach, grievance redressal and rooftop solar facilitation efforts underline the role of local-level service initiatives in expanding access to clean energy and improving consumer convenience.
