Marking National Doctors’ Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, paid tribute to the unwavering commitment of doctors and healthcare professionals who are expanding access to quality healthcare across rural India. Reinforcing its commitment to community well-being, the company has deployed a strong network of frontline healthcare professionals through its hospitals, mobile health units (MHUs) and diagnostic centres, extending essential healthcare services to more than 7 lakh people across Odisha and Chhattisgarh during FY26.

National Doctors’ Day celebrates the vital role played by medical professionals in building healthier communities and sustaining a productive workforce. The occasion also highlights the importance of robust healthcare systems in driving long-term social and economic development, while underscoring the role of responsible corporate initiatives in strengthening healthcare ecosystems across the country.

Highlighting the critical role of medical professionals, Rajesh Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Doctors play a pivotal role in ensuring good health and improving the quality of life of our communities. Through their expertise and dedication, they ensure that quality medical care reaches people when and where it is needed most. At Vedanta Aluminium, we are supporting their efforts by strengthening rural healthcare access through sustained investments in medical infra and consistent community outreach.”

During FY26, Vedanta Aluminium significantly expanded access to healthcare through a wide range of community-focused initiatives. In Jharsuguda, the company’s mobile health units delivered doorstep primary healthcare to more than 18,000 beneficiaries, while awareness campaigns on tuberculosis, malaria, diabetes, cancer and heart health reached over 2.8 lakh people. The District Satellite Hospital in Jharsuguda, extensively supported by Vedanta Aluminium, also provided medical care to more than 1.17 lakh patients.

Sorojini Thakur, a resident of Kudaloi village in Jharsuguda, said, “Healthcare services were once difficult to access in our remote village. Today, Vedanta’s mobile health unit ensures that doctors visit regularly, helping us receive timely consultations and treatment. It has brought much-needed healthcare support closer to our doorstep.”

At Lanjigarh, Vedanta’s flagship Project Aarogya positively impacted more than 1.3 lakh people through the Vedanta Hospital, mobile health units, mega health camps, emergency medical support, and maternal and child healthcare initiatives. The programme continues to serve residents of over 65 villages across Kalahandi and Rayagada every month.

Over the past year, Vedanta Aluminium’s mining operations organised more than 3,500 health camps, benefiting over 36,000 people across 18 villages in Jharsuguda and Sundargarh through regular medical consultations, free medicines and preventive healthcare services. Additionally, the company’s mobile health unit at Sijimali conducted 753 health camps between April 2025 and June 2026, providing consultations, medicines and primary healthcare services to more than 20,800 people.

In Chhattisgarh, the BALCO Hospital in Korba delivers quality multi-speciality healthcare to over 2.2 lakh patients annually, while community outreach initiatives such as Project Arogya continue to improve access to primary healthcare in remote areas. Further strengthening the region’s healthcare ecosystem, the BALCO Medical Centre in Raipur is providing advanced yet affordable cancer care to patients from across the country and is rapidly emerging as a leading oncology institution in India.

By working closely with healthcare professionals, government institutions and community stakeholders, Vedanta Aluminium continues to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve access to quality medical services, and foster healthier, more resilient communities across its operational regions.
