The Engineering Department and
IFFCO emerged champions in the 6th Inter-Department Cricket Tournament and the
5th Corporate Cricket Tournament 2026 respectively, as the valedictory function
was held at Gopabandhu Stadium under the aegis of Paradip Port Authority.
In a competitive final of the
Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, the Engineering Department posted 112 for
8 in 15 overs. Chasing the target, the Electrical & Mechanical Department
could manage only 93 for 9 in their allotted 15 overs, handing Engineering a
well-earned 19-run victory and the championship trophy.
The Corporate Cricket
Tournament final provided even more drama as Paradip Port Authority and IFFCO
finished level on scores after regulation play. The title was eventually
decided in a tense Super Over, where IFFCO held its nerve to seal the
championship.
The valedictory ceremony was
attended by Chief Guest A.K. Bose, Advisor (Traffic), PPA, along with heads of
departments and senior officials. Speakers on the occasion underlined the
importance of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship, noting that such events
help foster stronger professional relationships among employees and
stakeholders.
Trophies, medals and special
awards were presented to the winners, runners-up and standout performers in
recognition of their efforts on the field.
The tournament was organised
under the leadership of H.S. Rout and D.P. Sethy, whose efforts ensured the
smooth conduct of the event.
The floodlit evening matches drew enthusiastic participation and support from employees, stakeholders and sports lovers, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the tournament.
The successful completion of the twin cricket events once again reflected Paradip Port Authority’s commitment to promoting fitness, healthy competition and camaraderie beyond the workplace.
