Earlier in the day, dignitaries paid floral tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India and the visionary behind the establishment of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Vajpayee laid the foundation stone of the Institute on July 15, 2003. The Institute commenced academic activities in 2012, while its hospital became operational in 2014. Notably, AIIMS Bhubaneswar remains the only AIIMS in the country whose foundation stone was laid personally by the former Prime Minister.
