Air India on Tuesday announced that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Campbell Wilson has resigned from his position, prompting the airline to constitute a high-level committee to identify his successor.

Wilson, a native of New Zealand, has been at the helm of the Tata Group-owned full-service carrier for the past four years, steering the airline through a crucial phase of transformation following its return to the Tata fold. His tenure was marked by strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, expanding global connectivity and enhancing the brand’s competitiveness in the rapidly evolving aviation market.

The airline said a committee has been formed to undertake the process of selecting the next CEO & MD, signalling the company’s intent to ensure continuity in leadership as it pursues its long-term growth and modernization roadmap. Wilson’s departure comes at a significant juncture for Air India as it continues to implement wide-ranging reforms to consolidate its position in the global aviation landscape.
