BALESHWAR, AUGUST 26, 2026

Baleshwar, 26 August 2026: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has been conferred with the Best CSR Project Award by UBS Forums, Pune, in recognition of its impactful Integrated Development Programme for communities affected by the devastating March 2025 hailstorm in Bisoi Block of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha. The initiative has helped more than 700 individuals and households rebuild livelihoods, strengthen access to health and education, and develop greater resilience against future challenges.

Implemented across Pundida, Kesargadia and Saraspada, the programme focused on vulnerable families who suffered significant losses to crops, livestock and livelihoods due to the hailstorm. Adopting a holistic approach encompassing livelihoods, health, nutrition and education, the initiative was designed to provide immediate support while creating sustainable pathways towards community resilience.

Under the livelihood component, TPNODL distributed agricultural input kits containing millet and vegetable seeds, compost and bio-fertilisers, along with mushroom spawn, poultry and goat units. These interventions were complemented by comprehensive veterinary care to help vulnerable households establish and sustain alternative sources of income. Residential training programmes were also conducted to promote sustainable and improved farming practices.

The programme placed equal emphasis on health and well-being. Mobile Health Units provided essential healthcare support and distributed hygiene kits, along with conducting awareness sessions for adolescent girls. Specialised nutrition kits were provided to children below six years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers to address critical nutritional needs among vulnerable groups.

Recognising the importance of education in long-term development, TPNODL also established three Community Learning Centres within government school premises to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy among children in the region.

The award was received on behalf of TPNODL by Ranjan Sharma, Head – CSR, and Rajesh Ranjan Ghadai, Executive Engineer – Udala Electrical Division, at an event held in Pune on 25 August 2026.

Commenting on the recognition, Dushyant Kumar Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer, TPNODL, said, “We are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious recognition at the national level. The recognition further underscores TPNODL’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development across Northern Odisha through its comprehensive CSR framework. The company currently operates six Vocational Training Centres, providing market-aligned skills to nearly 1,000 youth and women every year to support financial independence.
