Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on Wednesday reported an 18 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated profit after tax to ₹3,682 crore for the second quarter of FY27, driven by robust revenue growth across its ports, logistics and international operations.

The company, part of the diversified Adani Group, had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹3,120 crore in the July-September quarter of the previous financial year.

Consolidated revenue surged 24 per cent to ₹11,340 crore in the quarter under review, compared with ₹9,167 crore a year ago. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 23 per cent to ₹6,807 crore.

Buoyed by its strong first-half performance, APSEZ raised its FY27 revenue and EBITDA guidance by ₹1,000 crore each to ₹44,000-46,000 crore and ₹26,000-27,000 crore, respectively. The company also increased its capital expenditure guidance for the current fiscal by ₹3,000 crore to ₹15,000-17,000 crore, signalling an accelerated investment push to support its long-term expansion plans.

“APSEZ’s ability to execute at scale with financial prudence enables us to pursue ambitious growth while leveraging balance-sheet strength and compounding cash flows,” Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer of APSEZ, said.

He said the company's earnings remained anchored in its domestic ports business, while international ports, logistics and marine operations were emerging as additional growth engines.

APSEZ said it had deployed ₹30,346 crore in capital expenditure over the past two years, including investments in the first half of FY27 that exceeded earlier plans.

The company is accelerating investments to achieve its FY31 targets of ₹91,500 crore in revenue and ₹52,000 crore in EBITDA, underlining its focus on expanding capacity and strengthening its presence across domestic and international markets.

The domestic ports business recorded 13 per cent revenue growth, supported by higher cargo volumes and improved realisations. Cargo handled during the July-September quarter stood at 118 million tonnes, while the capacity of its domestic ports reached 671 million tonnes.

Its international ports portfolio continued to gain momentum, posting record revenue of ₹1,839 crore and EBITDA of ₹878 crore. The EBITDA margin reached a record 47.7 per cent, reflecting improved operational performance and the ramp-up of overseas assets.

International cargo volumes rose to 24 million tonnes in Q2FY27 from 10 million tonnes in the corresponding quarter of FY26.

The company attributed the growth to the continued ramp-up of Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) and its Tanzania operations, along with a contribution from North Queensland Export Terminal. CWIT handled 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) within the first 18 months of operations, marking a key milestone in the expansion of its international terminal business.

APSEZ's logistics business also staged a strong recovery after the first quarter of FY27 was affected by the West Asia crisis.

Container volumes, measured in TEUs, increased 15 per cent to 167,453 in the second quarter from 145,310 in the preceding April-June quarter. Trucking revenue rose 28 per cent year-on-year, indicating improved activity across its logistics operations.
