Bharat Coking Coal
Limited (BCCL) has intensified its efforts to strengthen coal dispatch and
enhance coordination with industry stakeholders by organizing a comprehensive
interaction with NRS Linkage and CIL SWMA e-Auction consumers, bringing
together traders, industrial representatives and buyers to deliberate on
operational improvements and market opportunities.
The interaction, held
on Saturday, witnessed large participation from coal traders, industry
representatives and consumers who shared suggestions and operational feedback
aimed at improving supply efficiency and strengthening coal distribution
systems. The meeting was chaired by BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj
Kumar Agarwal, along with senior company officials.
Addressing the
participants, Agarwal reiterated that BCCL remains firmly committed to
protecting the interests of its consumers and meeting their coal requirements
in a transparent and efficient manner. He emphasised that ensuring the supply
of quality coal and maintaining timely dispatch remain key priorities for the
company, with continuous efforts being undertaken across operational levels to
further improve service standards and consumer facilities. He also noted that
such interactive engagements play an important role in building trust and
strengthening coordination between the company and its customers.
During the
discussion, the company highlighted several initiatives aimed at expanding coal
dispatch to NRS Linkage and auction consumers while diversifying its consumer
base beyond the power sector. BCCL informed participants that a substantial
quantity of coal is being offered under the NRS Linkage Auction to encourage
participation from different industrial segments. In the recently conducted
Tranche-IX auction, nearly 20 million tonnes of coal were offered across
multiple sectors, with special emphasis on boosting supply to industries such
as steel.
To enhance
competitiveness and incentivise higher coal lifting, BCCL has also introduced
an attractive cash discount scheme under its e-Auction mechanism. The scheme
offers discounts ranging from ₹100
to ₹600 per tonne depending on the quantity of coal lifted. Consumers lifting
between 500 and 4,000 tonnes through road mode or one rake through rail will
receive a ₹100 per tonne discount, while those lifting
above 80,000 tonnes or more than 20 rakes will be eligible for the highest
discount of ₹600 per
tonne. The discount will be calculated based on billed quantity or number of
rakes and will be adjusted during final settlement after
completion of coal lifting.
The meeting further reviewed measures to streamline and accelerate coal lifting operations. BCCL informed consumers that all operational areas are ensuring timely issuance of quotas and allotments to avoid delays. The company has also coordinated with the district administration in Dhanbad and the District Mining Officer to expedite the approval of mining challan permits, reducing the approval timeline to two to three days. Additionally, a wallet-based system has been introduced to facilitate faster processing of permits.
Coal quality assurance also remained a key focus during the discussions. BCCL stated that all operational areas have been sensitised to strictly maintain quality standards, with Area General Managers regularly inspecting mine faces and monitoring coal movement up to railway sidings. The officials are also actively addressing issues faced by consumers during coal lifting, including operational challenges and local law-and-order situations, to ensure smooth supply and uninterrupted industrial operations.
