BMW Group
India has clocked its highest-ever annual performance, cementing its leadership
position in India’s luxury automobile market with robust double-digit growth
and a sharp acceleration in electric mobility. The company delivered 18,001
cars in calendar year 2025, marking a strong 14 per cent year-on-year growth in
a competitive and fast-evolving business environment. Of these, BMW accounted
for 17,271 units, MINI contributed 730 units, while BMW Motorrad recorded
deliveries of 5,841 motorcycles.
The milestone
underscores BMW Group India’s sustained momentum, with the company posting
record-breaking sales for the fourth consecutive year. Every month and quarter
of 2025 turned out to be the best on record, with quarterly growth consistently
outperforming the average expansion of the Indian luxury car segment. The
October–December quarter stood out in particular, as car sales peaked at an
all-time high of 6,023 units, reflecting a 17 per cent jump over the same
period last year.
Commenting on
the achievement, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said
the company’s performance reflects deep-rooted brand trust and aspiration among
Indian customers. He noted that growth has been broad-based across internal
combustion and electric vehicles, sedans and Sports Activity Vehicles, as well
as long wheelbase models. He added that BMW’s leadership in the luxury electric
segment is not only advancing sustainable mobility but also expanding the
overall size of India’s premium car market, while the company remains focused
on driving pleasure, customer-centricity and a strong dealer network.
A key driver
of growth in 2025 was BMW Group India’s aggressive product offensive, which saw
the launch of 20 new products across BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad. New-generation
models such as the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, BMW X3, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, MINI
JCW Countryman All4 and MINI Convertible strengthened the portfolio, while the
motorcycle range was reinforced by the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure and the
high-performance BMW S 1000 RR.
Electric
mobility emerged as a major highlight, with BMW Group India retaining its
position as the most preferred luxury EV brand in the country. Deliveries of
BMW and MINI electric vehicles surged to 3,753 units in 2025, recording an
exceptional 200 per cent growth year-on-year. EVs now account for 21 per cent
of total car sales, a sharp rise from 8 per cent last year. BMW continues to
command the largest share of India’s luxury electric segment, with the BMW i7
leading the top end and the BMW iX1 dominating the entry-level premium EV
space, also emerging as the highest-selling EV in its segment.
To support
this rapid adoption, the company expanded its luxury electric ecosystem through
initiatives such as Destination Charging, Smart E-Routing, Charging Concierge
and the High Performance Electric Corridor. BMW and MINI customers can now
access over 6,000 charging points nationwide through partnerships with leading
service providers. The group currently offers the widest luxury EV lineup in
India, comprising seven electric cars and two electric scooters.
Long wheelbase
models witnessed exceptional traction, with sales soaring 162 per cent
year-on-year to 8,608 units. These models now account for half of BMW’s total
sales, up from 29 per cent a year ago, reflecting Indian customers’ growing
preference for enhanced space, comfort and rear-seat luxury. The BMW 3 Series
continued its dominance as the highest-selling premium sedan in its segment.
Sports
Activity Vehicles remained the backbone of BMW Group India’s portfolio, with
deliveries rising 22 per cent year-on-year to 10,748 units. SAVs contributed 60
per cent of total sales, led by the BMW X1, followed by the BMW X5. MINI India
also posted steady growth, delivering 730 units in 2025, with the MINI Cooper S
recording a strong 47 per cent growth in demand.
BMW Motorrad
reinforced its leadership in the premium motorcycle space, driven by strong
demand for both locally produced and imported high-performance bikes. The BMW G
310 RR emerged as the highest-selling smart-cc motorcycle, while models such as
the BMW S 1000 RR and GS range remained in high demand among enthusiasts.
Looking ahead,
BMW Group India is sharpening its focus on customer experience with the rollout
of its Retail.NEXT concept, aimed at creating future-ready, immersive retail
spaces. The company currently operates 97 touchpoints across 40 cities and
plans to add 19 new outlets in 18 cities in 2026. Complementing this expansion,
BMW India Financial Services continues to play a pivotal role in driving sales
through its BMW Smart Finance solutions, offering flexible ownership options,
assured buy-back and attractive financing schemes.
With record
sales, a commanding EV presence and an expanding retail and service network,
BMW Group India has set a strong foundation for sustained growth as it
accelerates into 2026.
