Delegates from China and Iran, attending the ongoing BRICS
Education Conference in Bhubaneswar, paid a special visit to the Odisha State
Museum on Thursday, gaining a first-hand experience of the state's rich
historical, cultural, and archaeological legacy.
The visiting delegation was warmly received by Dr. Bharati
Pal, Superintendent of the Odisha State Museum, who highlighted Odisha's
glorious history, vibrant cultural traditions, architectural marvels, literary
heritage, and artistic excellence. She also provided an overview of the
museum's invaluable collections, showcasing the state's enduring contribution
to Indian civilization.
During the visit, the delegates toured several prominent
galleries of the museum, including those dedicated to archaeology, palm-leaf
manuscripts, epigraphy, numismatics, traditional arms and weapons, handicrafts,
and the Intangible Heritage Gallery. The exhibits offered the visitors a
comprehensive insight into Odisha's diverse cultural and historical treasures
preserved over centuries.
The delegates expressed deep admiration for Odisha's rich
archaeological heritage and lauded the state's remarkable Buddhist and Jain
monuments, acknowledging their historical significance and outstanding
contribution to world heritage.
As a gesture of goodwill and cultural exchange, the Odisha State Museum presented the visiting delegates with a special publication titled "Timeless Tales: Treasures of Odisha State Museum," a comprehensive book introducing the museum's history, collections, and heritage. The presentation underscored the museum's commitment to promoting Odisha's cultural legacy among international visitors and strengthening global appreciation of the state's timeless heritage.
