Stating that the chemicals and petrochemicals sector forms the backbone of India’s manufacturing ecosystem and plays a decisive role in driving growth across agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, infrastructure, mobility and clean energy, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, today underscored the Government’s commitment to building a globally competitive, innovation-driven and trust-based industrial environment.

The Minister was addressing industry leaders and stakeholders at the 14th edition of the FICCI Chemicals and Petrochemicals Awards 2025, organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry at Federation House, New Delhi. The event was attended by Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, as the Guest of Honour, along with senior government officials and representatives from across the sector.

Highlighting the Government’s focus on next-generation reforms, Patel emphasised measures aimed at enhancing ease of doing business, strengthening global competitiveness and fostering a transparent, trust-based regulatory framework. She outlined key initiatives such as GST rationalisation, significant reduction in compliance burdens through regulatory reforms, energy and labour sector reforms, and policy interventions to promote innovation, sustainability and integration with global value chains, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat. During the ceremony, 52 awardees were felicitated across multiple categories for their outstanding contributions to excellence, innovation, sustainability and safety in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector.

In her address, Nivedita Shukla Verma highlighted the Department’s sustained efforts to create a robust and future-ready ecosystem for the sector. She underlined the importance of strong industry–government collaboration in strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, promoting research and development, improving safety standards and advancing sustainability and circular economy practices. Reiterating DCPC’s commitment to policy support, infrastructure development and investment facilitation, the Secretary said these efforts are aimed at positioning India as a global hub for chemicals and petrochemicals.

The awards showcased excellence across India’s chemical and petrochemical value chain, recognising achievements in manufacturing excellence, innovation, sustainability, energy efficiency, safety and circular economy initiatives, and reaffirming the sector’s pivotal role in India’s industrial and economic transformation.
