Seeking to accelerate
Odisha’s industrial momentum, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday
chaired a high-level review meeting in Paradip to assess the progress of
several upcoming large-scale industrial projects and infrastructure
initiatives.
During the meeting,
the Chief Minister directed the district administration and industry officials
to resolve all pending issues within fixed timelines and ensure the speedy
implementation of projects. Stressing the strategic importance of the port
town, Majhi said Paradip is poised to emerge as one of the country’s largest
economic zones and urged authorities to take immediate steps to kick-start key
infrastructure and industrial ventures.
He highlighted the
need to accelerate major initiatives including the expansion of Paradip Port
Authority, development of shipbuilding and ship repair facilities, and the
establishment of industrial units led by Indian Oil Corporation Limited and JSW
Group.
The review meeting
also focused on the broader development vision of the
Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip Economic Region, alongside discussions on
proposed investments by AMNS India, the Paradip Petrochemical Complex, and
plans for integrated steel plants. Officials deliberated in detail on critical
issues such as land acquisition, statutory approvals, and other regulatory
clearances necessary for timely project execution.
Majhi also instructed
authorities to prioritise employment opportunities for Odisha’s youth,
particularly those from local communities, across all upcoming industries.
Emphasising inclusive development, he said industrial expansion must translate
into tangible economic benefits for the people of the region.
The meeting was
attended by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Jagatsinghpur MLA
Amarendra Das, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Jagatsinghpur
Collector J Sonal, officials from the Paradip Port Authority, and
