In
a significant step towards enhancing the spiritual journey of millions, the
Odisha government has announced the introduction of a slot booking system for
darshan at the famous Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Making
the announcement, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that devotees will
soon be able to plan their visit in advance through a structured slot booking
mechanism, aimed at ensuring a more seamless and spiritually fulfilling
experience.
Importantly,
the traditional queue-based darshan system will continue alongside the new
initiative, preserving the sanctity of age-old practices. To facilitate the
process, authorities are planning a dedicated holding area where devotees can
wait and enter the temple premises as per their allotted time slots.
The
slot booking darshan system will initially be introduced on a trial basis,
allowing officials to fine-tune operations and ensure smooth implementation.
The move is expected to significantly ease crowd congestion, reduce waiting
time, and improve overall temple management.
Emphasising a balanced approach, the minister highlighted that the initiative seeks to harmonise tradition with technology. By integrating modern systems with sacred customs, the government aims to make the divine experience at Puri more accessible, organised, and comfortable for devotees from across the country.
