Emphasising the importance of field visits and direct
engagement with people for strengthening Government communication at the
grassroots, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication
(CBC) Director General, Eastern Zone, T.V.K. Reddy, on Thurday reviewed the
activities, achievements and ongoing initiatives of the Press Information Bureau
(PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Bhubaneswar. Underscoring the
value of firsthand understanding of developments at the local level, he said
that “visiting different locations is a good practice”, as it enables officials
to interact directly with officers and stakeholders and gain a deeper
understanding of ground realities.
During his visit to the Regional Offices of PIB and CBC, T.V.K.
Reddy interacted with officers and staff and took stock of their outreach
programmes, media-related activities and future action plans. He appreciated
the work being undertaken by both organisations and expressed satisfaction over
their overall performance, particularly commending the effective management of
press tours and comprehensive coverage of various events undertaken by the
offices.
Highlighting the need to take Government initiatives closer
to the people, Reddy emphasised the importance of direct and interpersonal
communication. He appreciated CBC’s field-level communication and outreach
mechanisms for creating awareness about flagship schemes and programmes,
particularly among communities at the grassroots level. He stressed that direct
engagement with people can help bridge the communication gap, foster greater
awareness and strengthen the impact of public outreach initiatives.
Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, PIB &
CBC, Bhubaneswar, highlighted the vital role of PIB and CBC in disseminating
information on Government policies, flagship schemes, programmes and achievements,
while also strengthening communication with the media and the public. He
emphasised the need for close coordination and greater synergy between the two
organisations to further enhance the reach, effectiveness and impact of
Government communication and outreach initiatives.
Abhishek Mishra, Deputy Director, Regional News Unit (RNU),
Doordarshan Kendra, Bhubaneswar, also participated in the programme and briefed
the gathering on various activities and initiatives of RNU, Bhubaneswar.
Pradeep Kumar Choudhury, Assistant Director, CBC, Bhubaneswar, delivered the welcome address. Swadhin Shakti Prasad, Media & Communication Officer, PIB, Bhubaneswar, briefed the gathering on the major activities, initiatives and achievements of PIB, while Baldev Singh, Administrative Officer, CBC, apprised the gathering of the key achievements and various outreach and awareness initiatives undertaken by CBC.
The programme concluded with a cultural presentation by the artistes of CBC, Bhubaneswar. Officers and staff of PIB, CBC, Doordarshan and All India Radio were present on the occasion
