Emphasising that effective media outreach plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of Census self-enumeration, Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, highlighted the need for strategic communication to encourage wider citizen participation in the ongoing Census e-enumeration process.

Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Director of Census Operations, Government of India, held an interaction with Akhil Kumar Mishra to deliberate on key aspects of enhancing public awareness and participation in the digital self-enumeration initiative. Abhishek Mishra, Deputy Director (News Head), Doordarshan, Odisha, was also present during the discussion.

The meeting focused on strengthening citizen engagement, improving outreach strategies, and ensuring seamless coordination in the implementation of Census activities. The officials underlined the growing importance of digital platforms in enabling convenient, accurate, and efficient self-enumeration, making the process more accessible to the public.

Kalyan stressed that active participation of citizens is vital for ensuring comprehensive and reliable Census data, noting that public cooperation will significantly contribute to the success of the e-self enumeration initiative.

Akhil Kumar Mishra emphasised that well-planned communication strategies and sustained media outreach are essential to motivate people to participate proactively.

Abhishek Mishra highlighted the significant role of Doordarshan in disseminating authentic information at the grassroots level and ensuring maximum public awareness.

The interaction concluded with a consensus on strengthening collaborative efforts between government agencies and media organisations to ensure smooth conduct of the Census exercise, along with a renewed commitment to intensify awareness campaigns and outreach initiatives.
