EKA Mobility,
a leading player in the electric mobility sector with Mitsui & Co., Ltd.
(Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands) as equity partners, has deployed
state-of-the-art EKA 9M electric buses for Capital Region Urban Transport
(CRUT) in Odisha. The deployment, carried out in collaboration with Travel Time
Mobility Pvt. Ltd., marks a significant step forward in strengthening
sustainable and efficient urban mobility in the state.
The electric
buses were flagged off virtually by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi,
underscoring the state government’s commitment to clean energy-driven public
transport and reduced carbon emissions.
Commenting on
the initiative, Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer, EKA

Under the
project, a total of 100 EKA electric buses will be deployed across the capital
region, significantly enhancing CRUT’s public transport network while improving
commuter convenience and contributing to a substantial reduction in carbon
emissions.
The EKA 9M is
a next-generation, zero-emission electric bus engineered for modern urban
mobility. Featuring a sleek 9-metre design, the bus can comfortably accommodate
35 passengers and includes wheelchair accessibility. Powered by a robust 213 kW
motor and a 200 kWh LFP battery, the EKA 9M offers a clean, efficient and
eco-friendly alternative to conventional diesel buses. Its advanced features
promise smoother rides, lower emissions and improved daily commuting,
strengthening both urban and regional connectivity in Odisha.
With this
deployment, EKA Mobility continues to expand its footprint across India,
delivering innovative electric mobility solutions aligned with the nation’s
vision for cleaner, greener and more sustainable transportation systems.
