The government on Wednesday reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The reconstitution of the statutory film certification body has been carried out by the Central Government under sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the notification today announcing the new composition of the Board.

The reconstituted CBFC includes actor Manoj Joshi, filmmaker Priyadarshan, actors Suniel Shetty, Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi and Roopali Ganguly, among others.

The 18 members appointed to the Board are Vinod Anupam, Manoj Joshi, Abhishek Jain, Ricky Kej, Priyadarshan, Suniel Shetty, Hansraj Hans, Supriya Yarlagadda, Yatindra Mishra, Roopali Ganguly, Preity Zinta, Neela Madhab Panda, Pankaj Tripathi, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi, Nishigandha Wad, Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange.

The CBFC is responsible for examining and certifying films for public exhibition in India in accordance with the provisions of the Cinematograph Act and applicable rules.
