The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has approved 37 project proposals, including 24 major industrial projects and 13 initiatives aimed at promoting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), in a move to accelerate investments and strengthen the state's industrial ecosystem.

The approvals were given at a meeting of the IDCO Land Allotment Committee held on September 2 under the chairpersonship of Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, and IDCO Chairperson Usha Padhee.

The decisions are expected to facilitate faster implementation of industrial projects, generate employment opportunities at the local level and strengthen regional supply-chain ecosystems across Odisha.

The expeditious disposal of land proposals reflects IDCO's emphasis on time-bound decision-making, responsive land administration and investor facilitation, officials said.

By speeding up the processing of land-related proposals, IDCO is seeking to create a more predictable and investor-friendly environment for both large industries and emerging enterprises, they said.

Alongside faster administrative clearances, the state industrial infrastructure agency has stepped up field-level monitoring to ensure that land allotments translate into actual investments and productive economic activity.

Under Padhee's leadership, IDCO has intensified direct inspections of emerging industrial estates and strategic industrial corridors in Khordha, Cuttack and Kalinga Nagar, among other locations.

During the inspections, officials are assessing critical aspects of industrial infrastructure and project readiness, including land development and grading, master planning, power and water supply, road connectivity, dedicated freight movement and other essential civic infrastructure.

Particular attention is also being given to worker-centric facilities and safe, accessible infrastructure to support the expanding industrial workforce, including women employees in manufacturing clusters.

The field assessments are aimed at bridging the gap between administrative approval and actual project execution by identifying infrastructure bottlenecks on the ground and facilitating coordinated action by the concerned agencies.

The twin approach of speedy statutory clearances and rigorous field-level oversight is intended to ensure that industrial land is not merely allotted but converted into productive investments, employment generation and sustainable economic activity.

With continued focus on responsive land management, infrastructure readiness and investor facilitation, IDCO is seeking to strengthen Odisha's position as an agile and competitive industrial destination capable of attracting large-scale investments while supporting the growth of MSMEs.

The initiatives are also expected to contribute to more inclusive and regionally balanced industrial development by expanding investment and employment opportunities across different parts of the state.
