In a significant push to expand
last-mile banking access, the Department of Posts has revamped its ATM
infrastructure with the activation of 887 ATMs across India, marking a decisive
stride toward more accessible and user-friendly financial services. Installed
at post offices nationwide, the expanded network is enabling citizens to carry
out essential banking transactions closer to their homes, reinforcing the
government’s broader vision of financial inclusion powered by digital
transformation.
The initiative is expected to deliver
disproportionate benefits to rural and underserved communities, where proximity
to formal banking channels has long been a challenge.
Through these ATMs, customers can
conveniently withdraw cash, check account balances, and conduct other basic
transactions, leveraging the extensive reach of the postal network.
With a presence spanning the length
and breadth of the country, the Department of Posts has encouraged all citizens
to avail themselves of these ATM services, underscoring its evolving role as a
key enabler in India’s digital banking ecosystem.
