Fresh from her spectacular victory in Indian Idol Season 16, Odisha’s singing sensation Jyotirmayee Nayak
received a grand honour from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who felicitated
the young artiste at his official residence on Tuesday, celebrating her
remarkable achievement on the national stage and her growing stature as one of
the state’s brightest cultural icons.
Recognising her extraordinary talent, unwavering
determination and inspiring journey to success, the Chief Minister announced a
cash award of ₹5 lakh for Jyotirmayee. Congratulating the
singer on bringing laurels to Odisha, Majhi described her as a true youth icon
whose perseverance, discipline
and dedication have made her a role model for aspiring singers across the
country.
During the felicitation ceremony, Jyotirmayee presented her
coveted Indian Idol Season 16 trophy to the Chief Minister and shared the story
of the relentless hard work, sacrifices and years of preparation that
culminated in her national triumph. Applauding her achievement, Majhi said her
success reflects the perfect blend of talent, commitment and the divine
blessings of Lord Jagannath, adding that she has made every Odia proud through
her artistry.
Beyond her success in music, the Chief Minister also praised
Jyotirmayee for her humanitarian efforts. He highlighted her unique initiative
of using music therapy in cancer hospitals across Odisha, where she has been
helping patients cope with pain and emotional distress through the healing
power of music. Calling the initiative both compassionate and innovative, Majhi
said such efforts have the potential to inspire a new approach to healthcare
and patient well-being.
Describing Jyotirmayee as an inspiration for the younger generation, the Chief Minister said the determination and excellence displayed by talented youths like her would play a significant role in realising the vision of a prosperous Odisha and a developed India. He also thanked the people of the state for their overwhelming support throughout her Indian Idol journey, stating that her victory has become a memorable milestone in Odisha’s cultural history.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Jyotirmayee’s parents, Chakradhar Nayak and Gauri Nayak, who shared the proud moment with their daughter. The event was marked by warm appreciation and admiration from citizens across the state who continue to celebrate Jyotirmayee Nayak’s inspiring rise from a determined young singer to a national music champion.
