Integrity must go beyond being a guiding principle and find expression in every organisational decision and responsibility, said Parveen Verma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), emphasising the need to make transparency, fairness and accountability integral to the delivery of essential public services.

Verma’s remarks come as TPWODL, a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 from October 26 to November 1 across its operational areas in Western Odisha. Observed under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”, the week-long initiative seeks to strengthen ethical conduct, promote accountability and foster a corruption-free work culture across the organisation.

The observance began with Verma administering the Integrity Pledge in Odia to employees and senior leaders at the company's corporate office in Burla. Employees across all TPWODL locations also took the pledge under the leadership of their respective heads and managers, reaffirming their commitment to honesty, integrity and ethical conduct in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.

As part of the week-long observance, a series of awareness programmes and vigilance meetings have been organised across the Kalahandi, Balangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Rourkela circles. The programmes brought together officers, field staff, business associates and other employees from circle offices, divisions, sub-divisions, sections and commercial offices, ensuring wider participation in the organisation's efforts to promote ethical practices.

The sessions focused on key aspects of the Tata Code of Conduct, the Whistle Blower Policy, vigilance reporting mechanisms, consumer grievance management and ethical service delivery. Awareness activities, along with the display of vigilance banners at offices and operational locations, further reinforced the message of “Probity as a Way of Life”. The initiatives encouraged employees to imbibe the values of honesty, transparency and accountability in their day-to-day decisions, professional conduct and interactions with consumers.

Highlighting the significance of integrity in organisational functioning, Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL, said, “Integrity is not merely a principle to be upheld; it must reflect in every decision we make and every responsibility we discharge. As an organisation entrusted with an essential public service, we have a responsibility to operate with transparency, fairness and accountability at every level. Through Vigilance Awareness Week, we seek to strengthen this collective responsibility and embed a culture where ethical conduct is not just encouraged but practised consistently. This is fundamental to building public trust and contributing to sustainable prosperity.”

Through these initiatives, TPWODL seeks to reinforce vigilance as a continuous organisational responsibility rather than confining it to a week-long observance. By encouraging employees and business associates to demonstrate integrity, exercise accountability and adhere to ethical standards in their everyday responsibilities, the organisation aims to strengthen consumer confidence and promote a transparent, responsible and service-oriented work culture.

As part of its commitment to consumer service and transparency, TPWODL has also provided dedicated channels for assistance and reporting. Consumers can reach the company through its toll-free number, 1800 2028. Vigilance-related concerns can also be reported through WhatsApp at 9980558855 or via email at [email protected].
