The value system of integrity, trust and accountability ingrained in Company Secretaries will continue to strengthen governance, empower regulators and contribute to nation-building, ICSI President CS Pawan G. Chandak said on Saturday as the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) inaugurated its 54th National Convention of Company Secretaries here on Saturday.

 “The value system ingrained in Company Secretaries is anchored on integrity, trust, and accountability. By providing ethical guidance and ensuring stronger governance, the ICSI continues to support boards, empower regulators, and contribute to nation-building,” Chandak said, underlining the core philosophy guiding the profession.

The three-day annual convention, themed “NextGen CS – Catalyst of Growth & Guardian of Governance”, brings together Company Secretaries, regulators, industry leaders, professionals, government officials and other stakeholders for deliberations on the evolving role of the profession and the future of corporate governance.

Addressing the gathering, Inderdeep Singh Dhariwal, Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Retd.), described the convention as a unique confluence of experience and future aspirations. “The 54th National Convention of Company Secretaries is a unique confluence where the past meets the future. With its insightfully curated sessions, it instils a strong foundational belief system that will forge next-generation leadership,” he said.

The convention also witnessed the release of a wide range of publications and the announcement of several initiatives aimed at strengthening professional knowledge, governance practices and capacity building. These include the Souvenir, ICSI Bi-annual Progress Report 2026, Constitution of the ICSI Students’ Benevolent Fund, the first Youth Board Meeting, and a publication on Mastering International Valuation Standards (IVS).

The ICSI also announced specialised courses covering PMLA and AML, NBFCs, the transition from Company Secretary to CEO, the DPDP Act and Cyber Laws, besides releasing “IFSC Settlement Mechanisms — A Study with Recommendations for GIFT IFSC”. Handbooks on Environmental Laws, Labour Codes and Mining Laws, an updated Guidance Note on Prohibition of Insider Trading (PIT), an ESG Framework for Institutions, and “Carbon Markets: The Net Zero Navigator” were among the other key releases.

The institute further unveiled the Exposure Draft of the Proposed Syllabus 2027 and the revised edition of the ICSI Auditing Standards (CSAS 1 to CSAS 4), reflecting its focus on keeping the profession aligned with emerging regulatory, technological and business requirements.

As part of its efforts to deepen institutional and industry engagement, the ICSI signed MoUs with FICCI and PaperLite. It also announced a series of webinars focusing on contemporary governance and compliance challenges, including Navigating Governance: MSME Transformation Week, Start-ups Laws and Governance Week, and AI-Powered Company Secretary: Transforming Secretarial Practice, Governance & Compliance.

The convention has brought together around 1,500 Company Secretaries, professionals, directors, senior government officers and other stakeholders in Bhubaneswar, while approximately 3,000 delegates are participating virtually, giving the event a wide national reach.

CS Dwarakanath Chennur, Vice President, ICSI; CS Venkata Ramana R, Council Member and Chairman, Professional Development Committee, ICSI; CS Sandip Kumar Kejriwal, Council Member and Programme Director, ICSI; and CS Bishal Harlalka, Chairman, EIRC, ICSI, also addressed the gathering.

The event was also attended by Srimanta Baboo, Chairman, Bhubaneswar Chapter, ICSI. CS Asish Mohan, Secretary, ICSI, delivered the vote of thanks.
