Odisha’s leading digital service provider, Reliance Jio, has once again underlined its 5G network leadership by delivering an exceptional peak download speed of 333.47 Mbps across busy hotspots in Brahmapur city, according to the latest Independent Drive Test (IDT) results released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The performance firmly establishes Jio’s 5G superiority, with speeds more than double that of its nearest competitor.

The TRAI assessment evaluated real-world network performance at multiple high-footfall locations across Brahmapur city to reflect the experience of stationary users. These included the Brahmapur New Bus Stand, District Collector Office, Government Science College Chhatrapur, MKCG Medical College, Municipal Corporation Office, Rock Garden, RTO Office Chhatrapur, and the revered Shree Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple. In these tests, Jio emerged on top with a remarkable 333.47 Mbps 5G download speed, while Airtel followed with 148.09 Mbps.

Conducted as part of TRAI’s routine Quality of Service (QoS) assessments, the tests were carried out between December 16 and 18, 2025, covering Brahmapur city and adjoining areas. The comprehensive evaluation included a 360-km drive test across the city, a 4.1-km walk test, and assessments at eight designated hotspot locations, ensuring a robust and realistic analysis of network performance.

Jio also led another critical performance metric—latency. The network recorded an impressive low latency of just 24.71 milliseconds, nearly 50 percent lower than competing networks. This significant advantage reinforces Jio’s capability to deliver seamless video calls, smoother online gaming, and superior real-time digital experiences.

Further strengthening its dominance, Jio topped the charts in overall data download speed across Brahmapur city and nearby areas, including the scenic Gopalpur Sea Beach and the bustling Brahmapur Railway Station. The network delivered an average overall download speed of 242.83 Mbps, followed by Airtel at 106.15 Mbps, Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) at 20.31 Mbps, and BSNL at 10.55 Mbps. Jio also demonstrated strong upload performance, recording an overall upload speed of 17.54 Mbps.

With consistent excellence across key network parameters, Reliance Jio continues to set benchmarks in voice clarity, ultra-fast mobile data, and low-latency connectivity, accelerating the vision of Digital India. As per the latest TRAI telecom subscription data, Jio leads Odisha’s wireless, wireline, and fixed wireless access (5G FWA) segments, serving over 1.71 crore mobile subscribers and more than 6.66 lakh JioFiber and JioAirFiber home broadband customers in the state. This growth is driven by Jio’s expansive 4G and 5G infrastructure and customer-centric approach.

The detailed Independent Drive Tests were conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Hyderabad, to capture network performance across diverse environments, including urban zones, institutional hotspots, and rural residential areas. According to TRAI, the Brahmapur assessment covered surrounding regions such as Ralaba, Golanthara, Girisola, Chikiti, Bendalia, Pathara, Chhatrapur, Aryapalli, Ganjam, Humma, Khandadiuli, Purusottampur, Kavisuryanagar, Baragam, Burupada, Sheragada, Pattapur, and Digapahandi. Walk tests were specifically conducted at Brahmapur Railway Station and Gopalpur Sea Beach, further validating Jio’s consistent real-world network performance across varied usage scenarios.
