KiiT International School celebrated its 20th Foundation Day on Thursday with a grand ceremony that recognised academic excellence and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to holistic education. The occasion was marked by the felicitation of outstanding students and teachers, while speakers highlighted the transformative power of education and the school’s remarkable journey over the past two decades.

Addressing the gathering, KIIT Vice Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh said the school is not merely an educational institution but a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Emphasising the role of education in shaping character and values, Prof. Singh said education is the foundation of lifelong learning and character building. Quoting the Sanskrit verse, “Vidya Dadati Vinayam, Vinayad Yati Patratam,” he said knowledge leads to humility, humility to worthiness, and worthiness ultimately to success and happiness.

Prof. Singh also expressed gratitude to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, for his extraordinary vision, stating that he has demonstrated that education is the most powerful instrument for social transformation.

A major highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of class toppers and students who distinguished themselves in academics, sports, co-curricular activities and other fields. Teachers were also honoured for their outstanding contributions to the institution.

Saswati Bal, President of KIIT and KISS, extended her blessings and congratulated the students, teachers and the school management on the milestone occasion.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson of KiiT International School, reflected on the institution’s humble beginnings in 2007 with just 25 students and 14 teachers. Today, she said, the school has grown into one of the most promising international schools in eastern India.

She attributed the institution’s remarkable growth to the vision of Dr. Samanta, noting that when the school was established, there was no international school in the true sense in eastern India. Encouraging students to embrace the future with confidence, she urged them to think boldly, adapt to change fearlessly and pursue excellence while never losing their humanity.

Dr. Sanjay Suar, Principal of KiiT International School, said the institution continues to strive for excellence by empowering students to make a meaningful difference in their lives. He encouraged students to recognise their shortcomings, work diligently to overcome them and celebrate their achievements with humility.
