In a significant recognition of Odisha’s growing prominence in the field of medical research and healthcare, Dr. Sambit Das, Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at KIMS Bhubaneswar, has been elected President of the Endocrine Society of India (ESI), one of the country’s premier professional bodies in endocrinology. Established in 1972, the Endocrine Society of India is the largest professional association of endocrinologists in the country. It plays a key role in advancing the specialty through academic initiatives, research collaborations, national registries, clinical guidelines and patient-awareness programmes, both in India and internationally.

He is currently serving as Vice President of the ESI and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies (SAFES).

Over the years, Dr. Das has received several national and international accolades for his contributions to endocrinology and diabetes care. Recently, he was honoured with the Excellence in Endocrinology and Diabetes Award by the Chief Minister of Odisha.

Congratulating Dr. Das on his election, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, expressed his pride in the achievement and said that Dr. Das’s election to the prestigious post was a matter of great honour for KIMS, KIIT and the state of Odisha.
