Calling upon the RSP collective to rise above challenges and script a new chapter of success, Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), urged employees to remain committed, innovative and forward-looking while addressing the Annual Performance Review and Award function held on Wednesday. Emphasising resilience and collective effort, he exhorted the workforce to work tirelessly amidst challenges to write a more successful story of the Steel Plant.

The grand ceremony, organised at the Gopabandhu Auditorium of the Learning and Development Department, marked the beginning of the new financial year while celebrating the remarkable achievements of the Plant in the previous fiscal. The event was attended by Tarun Misra, Executive Director (HR), Biswaranjan Palai, Executive Director (Works), Anil Kumar, Executive Director (MM), M P Singh, Executive Director (Mines) and Sudip Pal Chowdhury, Executive Director (Projects), along with Chief General Managers, Heads of Departments, senior officers and employees in large numbers. The annual event, held every year at the start of the financial year, recognises the contributions of individuals and departments, reviews past performance and sets new targets for the year ahead.

The programme commenced with an online message from SAIL Chairman and Managing Director Amarendu Prakash.

rsp-2Extending greetings on the occasion of Odisha Diwas and the beginning of the new financial year, Alok Verma congratulated employees and award winners for the record-breaking performance of RSP in the last fiscal. He cautioned against complacency, stating that organisations stagnate when they rely solely on yesterday’s methods for tomorrow’s challenges. Highlighting the ambitious targets for 2026-27, he said that though the goals appear challenging, they are achievable with collective determination. He further stressed that the coming year holds special significance as RSP prepares to embark on its expansion journey towards becoming a 9.8 million tonne capacity plant.

Reflecting on the spirit of perseverance, Verma noted that true legacy is shaped not by easy success but by performance in difficult times, and encouraged the team to remain united in overcoming challenges and achieving greater milestones.

Earlier, the dignitaries ceremonially lit the lamp to inaugurate the programme, which began with a soulful rendition of ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ by a team of employees led by Jyotirmaya Acharya. Biswaranjan Palai presented a comprehensive review of RSP’s performance in 2025-26, highlighting significant achievements across various operational areas and outlining the targets for 2026-27. M P Singh also presented the performance highlights of the Odisha Group of Mines and the targets set for the new fiscal.

During the ceremony, Alok Verma and other dignitaries felicitated departments and individual employees for their outstanding achievements and released the Annual Business Plan booklet for the year ahead.

Atish Chandra Sarkar, CGM In-charge (Services) and Chairman of the Organising Committees, delivered the welcome address, while R S Sharma, GM In-charge (RCL), proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was efficiently anchored by Khushboo Mishra, Senior Manager (RCL), and Joydev Majumdar, Assistant Manager (PR).
