In a significant stride towards grassroots empowerment and holistic rural development, Nand Ghar, the flagship social impact initiative of Vedanta, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Women & Child Development (WCD) Department in Koderma, Jharkhand, for the establishment of 150 additional Nand Ghar centres in the district.

The MoU was formalized in the esteemed presence of Union Minister of Women & Child Development, Annapurna Devi, and District Collector, Koderma, Rituraj, underscoring a strong collaborative commitment to strengthening community well-being and enhancing service delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.

With an existing presence of 150 Nand Ghars in Bokaro district, the expansion into Koderma marks a significant milestone in strengthening Nand Ghar’s footprint in Jharkhand. The initiative aims to transform anganwadis into modern centres of excellence, delivering integrated services focused on nutrition, early childhood education, primary healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for women.

Under this partnership, 150 Nand Ghars will be developed across Koderma to serve as modernized hubs of holistic rural transformation. These centres will ensure improved access to nutritious meals for children, quality early learning, essential healthcare services, and skill-based livelihood opportunities for women, thereby contributing to inclusive and sustainable community development.

Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Rituraj said, “This partnership marks a significant step towards strengthening grassroots service delivery in Koderma through impactful CSR initiatives. The development of 150 Nand Ghars by Vedanta will enhance access to quality nutrition, early childhood education, healthcare, and women-centric livelihood opportunities, ensuring holistic community development across the district.”

Guided by our Chairman’s vision of ensuring every child thrives and every woman is empowered, the expansion of Nand Ghars will bring essential nutrition, learning, healthcare, and livelihood support closer to communities. Together, we are laying the foundation for stronger and more resilient rural communities.”

By integrating technology, improved infrastructure, and community participation, the initiative aims to strengthen the anganwadi ecosystem and create a scalable, sustainable model for rural transformation.

Nand Ghar, a flagship initiative under the Anil Agarwal Foundation, is modernizing India’s anganwadi network to empower women and children through a comprehensive approach encompassing nutrition, education, healthcare, and skill development. With over 12,000 centres across 17 states, the initiative currently reaches more than 4 lakh children and 3 lakh women, with an ambitious vision to positively impact 8 crore children and 2 crore women across India’s 14 lakh anganwadis.
