NTPC Bongaigaon successfully organised the NTPC Regional Quality Circle Meet – Eastern Region II on February 4, 2026, at its township, bringing together Quality Circle teams from ER-II stations to exchange best practices, share innovations, and promote operational excellence across the region.

The meet was inaugurated by Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (ER-II & SR), NTPC Limited, in the presence of Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon; and Heads of Projects from all ER-II stations.

Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra highlighted that the participation of top-performing Quality Circle teams from each ER-II station and the practical, operations-focused themes selected by them would significantly contribute to productivity enhancement across NTPC’s operational domains. He emphasised that Quality Circles play a crucial role in fostering employee involvement, strengthening a problem-solving culture, and driving continuous improvement at the workplace.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra Sharma, GM (O&M) I/c, NTPC Darlipalli, underscored the importance of Quality Circles in enhancing operational reliability, safety, and efficiency. He noted that the structured methodology adopted by Quality Circle teams in identifying challenges and implementing solutions directly supports excellence in Operation & Maintenance and main plant operations.

During the meet, participating teams presented detailed case studies covering a wide range of Operation & Maintenance areas, including Boiler Maintenance, Ash Handling Systems, Generator Protection, Coal Handling Plant (CHP) operations, and Chemistry. The presentations showcased practical innovations and data-driven, implementable solutions aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing reliability, and strengthening workplace safety across various NTPC stations.

The event was evaluated by an eminent panel of judges comprising B. P. Ramesh, former General Manager, NTPC Limited; S. K. Trivedi, Senior Faculty, Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Bhilai; and Ahmed Mustafa Chowdhury, AGM (Maintenance), NTPC Bongaigaon.

U-235 from the Chemistry Department, NTPC Bongaigaon, emerged as the First Prize winner for its impactful presentation and demonstrable implementation outcomes. The Second Prize was awarded to the Energy Team from the EMD Department, NTPC Talcher Kaniha, while the Third Prize went to Techno Spark from the EMD Department, NTPC Darlipali. Navchetna from NTPC North Karanpura secured the Fourth Prize for its noteworthy contribution. Consolation Prizes were awarded to OptiAsh (Ash Handling Department), NTPC Darlipali, and Pratibha (C&I), NTPC Talcher Kaniha, in recognition of their commendable efforts and innovative approaches.

Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed his appreciation to all participating teams, judges, and organisers for making the meet a success.

The Regional Quality Circle Meet reaffirmed NTPC’s strong commitment to nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, employee participation, and operational excellence across its power stations in the Eastern Region.
