NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon unit on
Monday organised a comprehensive awareness session on the New Labour Laws,
bringing together Engineers-in-Charge (EICs), contract workers and Heads of
Departments to deepen understanding of recent statutory reforms and reinforce
compliance across its operations.
The session was conducted by Nirmal
Chandra Kar, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Guwahati, Ministry of
Labour & Employment, Government of India, who served as the resource
person. He elaborated on key provisions of the new labour codes, highlighting
their implications for employers, contractors and workers. The discussion
delved into statutory compliance, safety protocols, welfare measures and the
critical role of stakeholders in ensuring a transparent and accountable work
environment.
Addressing the gathering, Arnab
Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, underlined the importance of strict
adherence to statutory norms and the need for widespread awareness to ensure
effective implementation. He also emphasised the responsibility of officers and
supervisors in maintaining compliance at every level.
Anurag Gupta, General Manager
(O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, highlighted the operational significance of labour
law compliance, noting its vital role in ensuring safety, enhancing
productivity and facilitating the smooth functioning of large industrial
establishments.
Earlier, Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of
HR, provided an overview of the organisation’s commitment to labour welfare and
inclusive workplace practices.
The session saw active participation
from officers, EICs and contract workers, with engaging discussions centred on
practical aspects of implementing the new labour codes. The initiative
reaffirmed NTPC Bongaigaon’s continued focus on capacity building, regulatory
compliance and fostering a safe, inclusive and responsible workplace.
