LUCKNOW, JANUARY 26, 2026

NTPC’s Northern Region Headquarters on Monday marked the 77th Republic Day with solemn pride and forward-looking resolve at its Lucknow campus, reaffirming its commitment to nation-building through sustainable and reliable power generation. The National Flag was unfurled by Diwakar Kaushik, Regional Executive Director (North), in the presence of S. N. Panigrahi, Chief General Manager (HR), senior officials, employees and associates. Paying homage to the martyrs, Kaushik reflected on the spirit of the Constitution and its enduring relevance to India’s growth journey.

Highlighting NTPC’s pivotal role in the country’s energy landscape, Kaushik noted that the company contributes nearly one-fourth of India’s total power generation and is steadfast in its vision of achieving 149 GW installed capacity by 2032 through a diversified and sustainable energy mix. He underscored NTPC’s strategic foray into the nuclear power sector, marked by the foundation stone laying of the 2.8 GW Mahi Banswara Atomic Power Project in September 2025, and the steady expansion of renewable energy with the inauguration of the Nokh Solar Park in Rajasthan, where 735 MW is being developed under the Northern Region.

Describing the Northern Region as NTPC’s largest and most diverse, Kaushik shared that as on January 25, 2026, the region achieved a generation of 92,709 million units, accounting for 6.62 per cent of India’s total generation and 26.50 per cent of NTPC Group output. He also highlighted strong operational performance, with Rihand, Singrauli and Vindhyachal ranking among the top-performing stations in plant load factor within the NTPC Group.

Reiterating the organisation’s “Zero Harm” safety philosophy and environmental stewardship, he noted the plantation of over 2.64 lakh saplings during 2025–26 and significant progress in ash utilisation, with the Northern Region achieving 86.60 per cent utilisation and Unchahar and Tanda surpassing 100 per cent.

Extending the spirit of the day beyond the workplace, Uttara Club, the welfare wing of NTPC-NRHQ, undertook CSR initiatives including the distribution of winter blankets to contractual workers and food packets to students of a government primary school in Lucknow. Led by Seema Kaushik, President, and Namita Panigrahi, Vice President, the initiatives reflected NTPC’s inclusive approach to development.

The celebrations culminated with the release of tricolour balloons, symbolising unity, pride and an unwavering commitment to the nation’s progress.
