Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg has stressed the need for expediting the implementation of major industrial investment projects in the state, with particular emphasis on resolving land, infrastructure and other associated issues in a time-bound manner.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan here on Friday, Garg reviewed the progress of various projects of the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and the Adani Group and discussed measures required to facilitate their smooth execution.

The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Steel and Mines Department Deoranajan Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department and Chairperson of IDCO Usha Padhee, and Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy, Electronics and IT Department Vishal Dev.

Secretaries of various other concerned departments, including Finance, Energy, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Commerce and Transport, and Water Resources, were also present. Senior officials of IDCO, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), IPICOL and TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), among other agencies, attended the meeting.

The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NALCO and the Adani Group's President of Corporate Affairs were also present during the discussions.

The progress of key NALCO projects, including the brownfield expansion of its smelter and captive power plant and the Utkal-D and Utkal-E coal mines, was reviewed.

Issues relating to land acquisition and transfer, rehabilitation and resettlement, public hearings, gram sabhas and development of associated infrastructure came up for detailed discussion.

The meeting also reviewed the Adani Group's ongoing and proposed investment projects in Odisha across sectors including ports, industrial parks, power, aluminium, cement, coal gasification, data centres, mining and logistics.

Particular focus was placed on the expansion of the Dhamra and Gopalpur ports, industrial parks, economic corridors and associated infrastructure.

The participants also discussed land requirements and acquisition, road and rail connectivity, Coastal Regulation Zone-related procedures and other forms of government support needed for the projects.

Garg underlined that timely implementation of large industrial projects was critical to strengthening Odisha's industrial base, attracting investment, generating employment and supporting economic growth.

She directed the concerned departments, NALCO, the Adani Group and district administrations to maintain close coordination and take time-bound and effective steps for early resolution of project-related issues.

Collectors of Angul, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Cuttack and Bhadrak participated in the meeting virtually.
