The 47th Foundation
Day of the Odisha State Civil Supply Corporation (OSCSC) was celebrated here on
Thursday, with Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology
Minister Krishna Chandra Patra lauding the corporation for its role in ensuring
timely delivery of the Public Distribution System (PDS) benefits to eligible
beneficiaries.
Speaking as the chief
guest at the event, Patra highly appreciated the activities and achievements of
the corporation, saying it has played an important role in ensuring the timely
delivery of PDS commodities to beneficiaries under the National Food Security
Act.
OSCSC Managing
Director K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy said the corporation has undertaken several
measures aimed at safeguarding the interests of farmers, particularly in the
procurement of paddy.
He said the
corporation has adopted an Aadhaar-based registration mechanism and put in
place arrangements to ensure that farmers receive payment within 48 hours of
paddy procurement.
General Manager of
the Food Corporation of India Nihar Ranjan Pradhan and Additional Secretary of
the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department Srikant Behura also
highlighted various major activities and initiatives undertaken by the
corporation.
A monthly booklet
titled ‘Jogan Darpan’ was launched on the occasion. Retired employees of the
corporation were also felicitated in recognition of their services.
General Manager,
Finance and Accounts, Bibekananda Das presented the annual report of the
corporation, while General Manager Pravat Kumar Mohapatra proposed the vote of
thanks.
Financial Advisor
Debaraj Mandal, General Manager Ellora Samal, Pranati Priyadarshinee and
several other officers and employees of the corporation were present at the
Foundation Day celebrations.
