“Odisha is not only focusing on extraction but
also on enhancing value addition across the mining sector. We are also making
steady progress in the rare earth domain, which holds immense potential for
future industrial growth,” said Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain,
underscoring the state’s evolving strategy to drive sustainable and
future-ready industrial expansion.
Speaking at the second day of the CII
Odisha Mining and Construction Equipment Expo (OMCE) 2026, the Minister
highlighted the Government of Odisha’s strong push towards strengthening
downstream industries and promoting value-added processes in mining and
construction. He noted that the state is steadily transitioning from a
resource-based economy to one focused on higher industrial output and
innovation.
Organized by the Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII), the three-day OMCE 2026, inaugurated on March 19, has
emerged as a key platform for Eastern India’s mining and construction
ecosystem. The event has brought together industry leaders, policymakers,
technology providers, and investors to showcase cutting-edge solutions and
explore collaborative opportunities.
Highlighting Odisha’s rapid industrial
growth, Swain informed that foundation stones have been laid for 111 industrial
projects under the current government, with many already under construction. He
emphasized that ongoing infrastructure expansion across the state is
significantly boosting demand for advanced mining and construction equipment.
“With rapid industrialization and
infrastructure expansion, the need for advanced equipment is growing. Platforms
like CII OMCE provide an excellent opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate,
exchange ideas, and explore new business avenues,” he added.
The Minister also held detailed
interactions with participating companies, discussing future prospects in the
mining and construction equipment sector in Odisha. He expressed confidence
that such engagements would catalyze long-term growth for both manufacturers
and industrial stakeholders.
CII OMCE 2026 has attracted over 150 exhibitors across a sprawling 20,000 square metre display area, drawing more than 10,000 business visitors. The expo is showcasing a wide range of advanced technologies and solutions spanning mining, construction, and infrastructure. The co-located Odisha Metal Expo 2026 has further enhanced participation by bringing together stakeholders from the metals and allied industries.
The event, which concludes tomorrow, has also facilitated around 150 B2B meetings, along with extensive networking opportunities aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and investment. Positioned as a premier regional platform, CII OMCE 2026 is reinforcing Odisha’s standing as a key hub for industrial growth while paving the way for sustainable and technology-driven development in the mining and infrastructure sectors.
