BHUBANESWAR, AUGUST 11, 2026

Odisha’s Kharif paddy procurement for the 2026-27 season will commence from November 1, with the state government urging farmers to complete registration for selling their produce through the official procurement system by August 31.

The registration process which began on August 6, will remain open till August 31, while procurement will continue up to March 31, 2027. The exercise will be carried out district-wise, keeping in view the harvesting period of paddy, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department said.

Farmers intending to participate in government procurement can register at their nearest authorised Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS) or Pani Panchayat. They have been advised to obtain a fresh registration form from the concerned cooperative society and submit the duly filled-in form within the stipulated period. The form is also available on the department’s website.

Sharecroppers will also be eligible to register by submitting the required documents. Registration of both the sharecropper and landowner will be undertaken through Aadhaar-based e-KYC, with the presence of the landowner mandatory during the process.

Farmers will have to indicate the month and fortnight in which they intend to sell their paddy during the Kharif procurement season. The department has advised them to approach the cooperative society where they were registered in the previous year.

The government has laid special emphasis on bringing more small and marginal farmers into the procurement system so that they can avail themselves of the benefits of government procurement.

Cooperative societies have been directed to provide fresh registration forms to all interested farmers and digitise the submitted information through their respective login systems during the registration period.

Land unsuitable for cultivation and land on which crops other than paddy have been grown will not be registered for paddy procurement. Officials have also been asked to prepare an error-free list of registered farmers at the earliest to prevent delays in subsequent procurement-related activities.

Dedicated help desks will function at the cooperative society level to assist farmers with filling up forms and completing registration. Farmers requiring further assistance can contact the toll-free helpline 1967 during government working hours.

The registration and procurement exercise is being jointly undertaken by the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Cooperation Department, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department of the Odisha government.
