The Odisha Government
has stepped up preparations for the official visit of the Vice President of
India on July 9, with Chief Secretary Anu Garg chairing a high-level
State-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan on Saturday to ensure seamless
coordination and flawless execution of all arrangements.
The meeting brought
together senior officials from key departments to assess the preparedness for
the Vice President's engagements in the state. Comprehensive discussions
focused on security, protocol, traffic management, transportation, medical
preparedness, civic amenities and other logistical arrangements to ensure the
successful conduct of the high-profile visit.
According to the
official programme, the Vice President will attend the National Launch Programme
of the 'Letter of Authorisation' for Indian-flagged vessels engaged in
high-seas fishing. During the visit, he will also grace the 15th Convocation
Ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER),
Khordha, as the Chief Guest and deliver the Convocation Address.
Reviewing the
progress of preparations, Chief Secretary Anu Garg directed all departments to
complete their assigned responsibilities within the stipulated timeframe while
ensuring close coordination among agencies involved in the visit. She stressed
the importance of meticulous planning and flawless execution, with special
emphasis on foolproof security arrangements and uninterrupted essential
services.
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, robust fire safety measures, effective sanitation, proper road maintenance, adequate medical facilities, ambulance services and seamless protocol arrangements at all programme venues throughout the Vice President's visit.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to the Home, Industries and Information & Public Relations Departments, Hemant Sharma; Director General of Police, Odisha, Y. B. Khurania; Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School & Mass Education Department, N. Thirumala Naik; Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department, N. B. S. Rajput; and senior officers from various departments.
