In a proactive move
to ensure the seamless functioning of Odisha’s flagship Aahaar programme, the
Housing & Urban Development Department has issued comprehensive directives
to streamline and secure the supply of cooking gas for Aahaar Kitchens across
the State.
The Director of
Municipal Administration, Arindam Dakua, has communicated with all Collectors,
Municipal Commissioners, and Presidents of District and City Aahaar Societies,
underscoring the importance of strengthening the logistical framework that
supports the programme.
At present, 170
Aahaar Kendras, backed by nearly 90 centralized kitchens, are providing
affordable and nutritious meals to thousands of beneficiaries every day,
playing a vital role in enhancing urban food security and social welfare.
To ensure
uninterrupted service delivery, local authorities have been instructed to
conduct an immediate assessment of cooking gas availability within their
respective jurisdictions and to maintain close coordination with gas suppliers,
distributors, and other concerned agencies. The directive emphasizes timely and
proactive measures to prevent any disruption in meal preparation and distribution.
The renewed focus on
strengthening last-mile logistics and inter-agency coordination reflects the
State Government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring consistent access to
affordable meals for vulnerable populations. By reinforcing operational
preparedness, the initiative aims to ensure that the Aahaar programme continues
to deliver reliable, dignified, and inclusive service to beneficiaries across
Odisha.
