Odisha has approved
investments worth ₹4,573.87
crore for 23 major industrial projects that are expected to generate
22,873 employment opportunities across 11 districts, marking another
significant milestone in the state's industrial growth strategy. The proposals
received clearance at the 148th meeting of the State-Level Single Window
Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Tuesday,
as the state intensifies efforts to achieve its Samruddha Odisha 2036 vision
under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The approved projects
cover a broad spectrum of sectors, including information technology and
IT-enabled services, green energy, battery manufacturing, chemicals, textiles
and apparel, food processing, steel downstream industries, pharmaceuticals,
infrastructure, healthcare, logistics, tourism and hospitality. The approvals
reflect the government's continued focus on attracting investments in both
traditional and emerging industries while ensuring balanced regional
development.
Among the biggest
investments, HCL Technologies Ltd. will establish a Global Development Centre
in Khurda district with an investment of ₹730 crore, creating around 6,000 jobs and significantly
strengthening Odisha's fast-growing IT ecosystem.
In the green energy sector, ACME
Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. will invest ₹778 crore to establish a two-phase alkaline electrolyser
manufacturing unit in Ganjam with an annual production capacity of up to 3 GW,
generating 480 employment opportunities.
GGB Battery India
Pvt. Ltd. will establish a zinc-anode battery manufacturing unit in Cuttack
with an investment of ₹202.50
crore, creating 254 jobs. Envirocare Infrasolutions Pvt.
Ltd. will invest ₹351
crore in Anugola district to develop an additional 100 MW ground-mounted solar
photovoltaic captive power plant, generating 60 jobs while strengthening
Odisha’s renewable energy ecosystem.
The textiles and
apparel sector emerged as one of the largest employment generators, with four
projects approved in Puri and Balangir. Together, these projects are expected
to create more than 10,000 jobs through investments by SAPL Industries Ltd.,
SPL Industries Ltd., Richa Global Exports Pvt. Ltd. and Astha Katpin Pvt. Ltd.,
further strengthening Odisha's position as a major garment manufacturing hub.
Significant
investments have also been approved in chemicals, renewable energy, food
processing, pharmaceuticals, steel downstream industries and logistics. Tata
Steel Ltd. will establish a railway siding facility in Keonjhar, while
logistics parks have been approved in Sundargarh and Dhenkanal. In the
healthcare sector, a ₹275.89-crore
investment will lead to the establishment of a 300-bed
multi-specialty hospital in Cuttack. The tourism sector will also receive a
boost with approvals for luxury five-star hotels and a premium resort in
Cuttack, Sambalpur and Khurda.
The approved projects will be implemented across Anugola, Balangir, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Puri and Sundargarh, ensuring wider industrial expansion and employment generation beyond major urban centres.
The Odisha Government said the latest approvals reaffirm the state's growing reputation as a preferred investment destination. By ensuring faster clearances through the Single Window Clearance mechanism, the government aims to facilitate timely project implementation, attract high-quality investments and accelerate inclusive industrial growth across the state in line with its long-term development roadmap.
