Padua Gram Panchayat under Champua Block in Keonjhar district has been conferred the prestigious Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar-2025 by the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry in the “Jal-Parayapta Panchayat” (Water-Sufficient Panchayat) category, recognising its exemplary contribution towards sustainable water management and grassroots-led development.

The national accolade acknowledges Padua’s remarkable efforts in ensuring water security through efficient resource management, decentralised planning, and strong community participation. Through innovative water conservation practices and the effective convergence of government schemes, the panchayat has created a robust model of long-term sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Congratulating the Padua Gram Panchayat team and Champua Block administration, the Keonjhar district administration highlighted the vital role of community ownership and collective action in transforming the panchayat into a model of water sufficiency. District Collector Vishal Singh commended the coordinated efforts, committed leadership, and grassroots participation that have significantly improved rural livelihoods.

Officials expressed hope that Padua’s achievement will inspire other panchayats across Keonjhar district to replicate similar best practices, strengthening the momentum for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable rural development.
