“Paradip Port’s rise as a leading cargo hub
reflects Odisha’s growing industrial strength and global competitiveness,” said
Australian Consul General in Kolkata Bernard Lynch as he met Odisha Minister for
Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education Sampad Chandra Swain to
explore deeper economic and technological collaboration between Australia and
the state.
During a courtesy
meeting held at the minister’s official residence in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Australian
Consul General Lynch and Minister Swain engaged in detailed discussions
spanning industrial growth, workforce development, and advancements in
technical education. The dialogue underscored a shared commitment to
strengthening bilateral engagement and unlocking new avenues of cooperation.
Highlighting Odisha’s
rapid industrial ascent, Lynch lauded Paradip Port for emerging as a dominant
force in cargo handling and securing the top position nationally. He noted that
such infrastructure milestones enhance the state’s attractiveness as a global
investment destination.
The meeting also focused on fostering future partnerships in high-impact sectors, including industry, skill development, and technical education. Both sides explored strategies to boost industrial investments while creating pathways for youth to access advanced technical training, aligning workforce capabilities with evolving global demands.
Lynch commended the Odisha government’s sustained efforts over the past two years, particularly its welfare-driven initiatives and measurable progress in industrial expansion and skill development. Expressing optimism, he emphasized that enhanced cooperation between Odisha and Australia could play a transformative role in accelerating economic growth and building a robust, future-ready talent pool in the state.
