“At Vedanta Jharsuguda, safety is a core value
that guides every aspect of our operations. Through continuous awareness
efforts, adoption of latest technologies, and active employee engagement, we
are building a culture where safety becomes an integral part of everyday work.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to ensuring a safe and responsible workplace
for all,” said C Chandru, CEO - Vedanta Jharsuguda, as Vedanta Aluminium marked
the 55th National Safety Month with a comprehensive series of initiatives at
its mega aluminium plant in Jharsuguda.
Aligned with this
year’s theme, “Educate, Engage, and Empower to Enhance Safety,” the month-long
campaign is focused on deepening awareness, encouraging wider participation,
and strengthening proactive risk management practices across all levels of the
organization. The observance underscores the company’s commitment to fostering
a workplace where safety is not just a priority but a shared responsibility.
The inaugural
ceremony witnessed the presence of senior government officials Swaroop Jena,
Deputy Director, Factories & Boilers (DDFB), and Archana Das, Assistant
Director, Factories & Boilers (ADFB), alongside employees and business
partners. The programme commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a
collective safety pledge reaffirming the organization’s guiding philosophy of
“Zero Harm”.
A host of engaging
initiatives have been rolled out during the observance, including Suraksha ki
Adalat and Kaun Banega Safety Champion, placing safety awareness at the
forefront. Innovative outreach formats such as street plays and Safety tableaux
are also being deployed to promote safe practices through compelling visual
storytelling. These platforms aim to drive open dialogue, reinforce
accountability, and enhance understanding of safety protocols through practical
and interactive engagement.
Highlighting the
importance of translating intent into action, Swaroop Jena, DDFB, said, “Safety
in industrial operations emerge from translating intent into action. This
requires consistent awareness, strong systems, and active participation from
every individual. The efforts undertaken by Vedanta Aluminium help build an
industrial ecosystem where safety is practiced and promoted at every step.”
Echoing similar
sentiments, Archana Das, ADFB, said, “Safety is a shared responsibility that
must guide every action we take. This can be achieved through building
awareness, strengthening systems, and encouraging universal participation. I
commend Vedanta Aluminium on making consistent efforts to create a workplace
where everyone returns home safe, every day.”
Vedanta Jharsuguda
continues to reinforce its safety ecosystem through advanced technology
integration and structured training programmes. Smart safety measures such as
fatigue monitoring systems, intelligent interlocking, and AI-enabled
surveillance are being leveraged to enhance hazard identification and minimize
risk exposure. In FY26 alone, the unit has recorded over 6,90,000 training
hours and conducted 45,000 critical risk assessments, reflecting a deeply
embedded safety culture.
Extending its
commitment beyond the plant, the company is also driving community outreach
programmes focused on road safety, fire safety, and preventive healthcare,
positively impacting more than 10,000 individuals in nearby areas. Through its
ongoing National Safety Month initiatives, Vedanta Jharsuguda continues to set
benchmarks in building a safe, aware, and responsible industrial ecosystem.
