Marking a significant moment
for the corporate governance ecosystem in Odisha, CS Srimanta Baboo has assumed
charge as the Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Eastern India Regional
Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for the year
2026. He formally took over the responsibility on January 19, 2026.
A Fellow Member of ICSI, CS
Baboo currently serves as the Company Secretary of Angul Sukinda Railway
Limited, Bhubaneswar, bringing with him rich professional experience and a
strong understanding of compliance-driven corporate operations.
The newly constituted office
bearers of the Bhubaneswar Chapter include CS Dibyasingha Mishra as Vice
Chairman, CS Nilakantha Samal as Secretary and CS Jyotirmaya Panigrahi as
Treasurer.
The Managing Committee is
further strengthened by the presence of CS Sasmita Panda, CS Rudra Madhab
Sahoo, CS Bimal Prasad Pattanaik as Members and CS Soumya Sujit Mishra as
Ex-Officio Member, reflecting a balanced blend of experience and youthful
energy.
The charge-taking ceremony was
held on January 18, 2026, at the Bhubaneswar Chapter premises in the presence
of several eminent professionals from the fraternity. Distinguished dignitaries
including CS Priyadarshi Nayak and CS Soumya Sujit Mishra, both former Chairmen
of EIRC-ICSI, CS Bharat Kumar Sahu, Company Secretary of NALCO, along with CS
Jyotirmoy Mishra, CS Prabhat Nayak and CS Rajendra Kar, former Chairmen of the
Bhubaneswar Chapter, graced the occasion. The guests extended their warm wishes
to the new team and emphasized the need for continuous efforts towards
professional excellence and ethical governance.
The Institute of Company
Secretaries of India, a statutory professional body established under the
Company Secretaries Act, 1980, currently has more than 78,000 members and around
2.5 lakh students across the country. In Odisha alone, the institute supports
over 2,000 students and 260 members through its office at VIP Colony,
Bhubaneswar, playing a crucial role in nurturing future corporate governance
leaders.
Assuming the charge, CS
Srimanta Baboo reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the profession in the
state. He said the new team would focus on empowering members and students
across Odisha by working closely with the State Government, regulators and
corporate bodies. He emphasized that the chapter would strive to reinforce
robust corporate governance practices while enhancing the visibility and value
of the Company Secretaries profession at the grassroots level, aligning with
the evolving needs of India’s corporate landscape.
