Bongaigaon organised a comprehensive day-long workshop on “Corporate
Communication and its Changing Paradigms” for its mid and senior-level executives,
highlighting the growing significance of strategic communication in today’s
rapidly evolving digital and business landscape.
The workshop was
inaugurated by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence
of Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), who addressed the participants during the
inaugural session. Emphasising communication as a vital strategic tool, Maitra
underlined its critical role in shaping organisational perception and
stakeholder trust. He stressed the importance of adapting to the fast-changing
media environment and ensuring that communication remains timely, responsible,
and impactful.
In his address,
Anurag Gupta highlighted the importance of clear, structured, and purposeful
communication in achieving operational excellence. He noted that effective
communication is essential not only for external engagement but also for
ensuring seamless coordination within plant operations. Encouraging
participants to embed strong communication practices into their daily
professional routines, he emphasised clarity, accountability, and
responsiveness as key attributes of successful organisational functioning.
Earlier, Roshan
Dungdung, DGM (HR), delivered the opening remarks, setting the context for the
workshop and outlining its objectives in strengthening communication
competencies among executives.
The workshop featured
eminent speakers, including K. M. Prashanth, former GM (Corporate
Communication), NTPC Limited; senior media professional Sachin Gogoi; and Mitu
Samarnath Jha, CEO of Eminence Strategy Consulting. The experts shared valuable
perspectives on contemporary communication trends, reputation management, media
engagement, and the growing role of emerging technologies in corporate
storytelling.
K. M. Prashanth
elaborated on the three fundamental pillars of communication — listening,
reading, and writing — while drawing insights from international frameworks and
evolving industry practices. Sachin Gogoi provided an in-depth understanding of
media expectations and the importance of positioning the power sector
effectively within the global communication ecosystem. Mitu Samarnath Jha
focused on reputation management and highlighted how organisations can leverage
Artificial Intelligence to enhance storytelling, strengthen brand identity, and
manage crisis communication through structured and proactive strategies.
The sessions also explored branding approaches aimed at enhancing organisational visibility among stakeholders, with practical case studies illustrating how communication strategies are adapting to new-age media dynamics. Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions, facilitating exchange of ideas and practical learning.
The workshop was moderated by Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, DGM (Corporate Communication), NTPC Bongaigaon, and concluded with a renewed emphasis on building communication capabilities aligned with the demands of a fast-evolving digital ecosystem.
